The RA Prosecutor General's Office Decides to Create a Union of Private Detectives
The RA Prosecutor General's Office has decided to establish a union of private detectives in Armenia. The newspaper 'Zhoghovourd' reported that the Prosecutor General's Office has submitted a draft law on 'Private Detective Activities' to the National Assembly.
In the justification, the prosecutor’s office notes that there are currently no legal regulations concerning private detective activities, and it has decided to legally allow private detective activities in Armenia while simultaneously defining the permissible limits and manifestations of such activities.
It is mentioned that the development of the law also involved studying international legal practices in the field, including legal acts existing in France, Russia, and other countries, the regulations of which were also used as a basis for drafting the bill. For instance, a private detective may collect information regarding the legality of property origin, in accordance with the RA law on 'Seizure of Assets of Illegal Origin', looking for individuals for whom no information has been obtained in the previous year leading up to their place of residence searching.
It should be noted that the President of the Union of Detectives will be elected for a term of 4 years. In short, they intend to create a union that will delve into people's lives, primarily targeting individuals and officials undesirable to the authorities,” the newspaper writes.
