Remembering How Zelensky Was Delighted by the Effectiveness of Turkish Drones: Marukyan

Regarding the visit of Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister to Akna (Aghdam). Yesterday, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Oleksiy Reznikov visited the city of Akna (Aghdam) in Artsakh and offered assistance in the reconstruction of the territories. This was mentioned by Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the ‘Enlightened Armenia’ faction, on his Facebook page.

He specifically noted: “Reznikov mentioned that the purpose of the delegation and his visit was to extend a helping hand to Azerbaijan in the issue of restoring those territories and to exchange experiences. He also added that Azerbaijan is a friend and partner of Ukraine and that Kyiv will undoubtedly support Azerbaijan, is supporting, and will continue to support it.”

In fact, the Deputy Prime Minister seems to have forgotten his country's President's call to keep Ukraine out of the conflict existing between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We should recall that in the fall of 2020, Vladimir Zelensky called for neutrality during his visit to Turkey. However, we also remember how Zelensky was delighted by the effectiveness of Turkish drones, forgetting about the thousands of people killed as a result of aggression and war crimes, which are considered international crimes.

It is evident that Ukraine's relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan are based on economic foundations, particularly military industry, investments, and energy.

Nonetheless, to those Ukrainian officials who visit Azerbaijan and the lands that have come under Baku's control due to aggression and wartime crimes, I would like to remind them of the democracy that former official Kyiv once adopted. It seems that the Maidan Revolution is referred to as the dignity revolution. How can a Ukrainian official talk about dignity while unconditionally accepting the official Baku's viewpoint for the sake of expected economic benefits, forgetting the thousands of victims, thousands of injured, thousands who have lost their homes, hundreds of missing persons, ethnic cleansing, the demonstrative destruction of Christian cultural monuments, the use of prohibited weapons, terrorism, mercenaries, civilians, and prisoners of war, as well as other crimes against humanity and war crimes?

Anyone who visits Azerbaijan with a smile, and then to the territories of Artsakh occupied by Baku should remember all of this. We certainly will not forget.
