Medical Care for Children Under 18 Provided at State Expense, Minister Says
In tandem with crisis management, all of our program commitments have been fulfilled, declared Armenia's Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during the discussion on the results of the government's 2020 program implementation report.
The Minister noted that the health budget of Armenia has seen a 30 percent increase over the last 2-3 years. "This means that the groups of beneficiaries have increased, and new services have been introduced," said Avanesyan, reminding that medical care for children under the age of 18 is provided at state expense.
“Treatment for a number of diseases and surgeries that were previously inaccessible to our citizens are now available. Our first and second category disabled individuals require surgeries that cost 3-4 million drams. A few years ago, these were unattainable dreams for them, but now they are accessible to our citizens,” emphasized Avanesyan.
The Minister also reported that significant investments have been made to develop regional capabilities, and that medical institutions have been equipped with new equipment. “Investments to strengthen medical centers will continue,” she assured.
