Artsakh President Will Attend Interrogation If Summoned by Law Enforcement: Spokesperson
The law enforcement agencies have not yet sent a summoning notice to the President of the Republic of Artsakh regarding the interrogation connected to the criminal case initiated under Article 312, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Artsakh (Subversion of the Constitutional Order). This was announced by the spokesperson of the President of Artsakh, Lusine Avanesyan, in a conversation with Armenpress.
“I can inform you about President Araik Harutyunyan's position that if he receives a summons, he will go for interrogation and answer all questions. Considering the specifics and nuances of the criminal case, we will provide information later regarding the participation of the Republic’s President,” Avanesyan said.
Earlier, the Prosecutor's Office of Artsakh issued a statement informing that the President of the Republic of Artsakh will also be summoned for questioning in connection with the criminal case initiated under Article 312, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Artsakh.
This criminal case was initiated based on a report submitted to the prosecutor's office on December 10, 2020, by the public organizations “Youth of Haik” and “Forward Artsakh”. According to the report, information was presented about alleged cases of support provided by a group of citizens of Artsakh (not yet identified in the inquiry) to the armed forces of the adversary during the war unleashed by the Republic of Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh starting from September 27, 2020.
In connection with the incidents presented in the report, in order to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and multifaceted investigation, a criminal case was initiated on February 15, 2021, in the special investigative department of the Prosecutor’s Office of Artsakh under Article 310, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Artsakh, which was forwarded to the Investigative Committee of Artsakh according to jurisdiction.
