Alen Simonian: I have been advised to hold accountable those who tarnish my reputation in court

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, shared on his Facebook page a brief snapshot of journalist Ani Gevorgyan's press conference today and added a comment informing that he plans to defend his rights in court.

"In connection with the mentioned absolutely false and defamatory statement, I have already consulted with my lawyers today, who have advised me to defend my rights in court and hold accountable those who smear my reputation and spread false information," he wrote.

It is noteworthy that journalist Ani Gevorgyan has recently received threats on various social media platforms related to her professional activities. A group of users has published her and her young child's photo, accompanied by insulting and degrading texts.

The incident has drawn responses from various media organizations, as well as the Ombudsman’s office.
