A Ministry of Internal Affairs is to be Established

Today, the draft law on amendments to the law on the structure and activities of the government and the related package of draft laws have been approved by the executive.

The drafts propose the formation of a state management body that develops and implements state policy in the field of internal affairs in the system of executive authorities of the Republic of Armenia, namely the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Accordingly, the subordinates of the ministry will include the Police of the Republic of Armenia, the Migration and Citizenship Service, and also the educational institution currently operating under the Police, which is the Police Educational Complex of the Republic of Armenia.

The heads of subordinate bodies, with the exception of the Police Forces, will be appointed and dismissed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia upon the recommendation of the Minister of Internal Affairs. The commander of the Police Forces will be appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic.
