34-Year-Old Driver in Intoxicated State Hits 6 Military Personnel, 2 Dead at Scene, 4 Hospitalized
A fatal traffic accident occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 1:00 AM, the driver of a vehicle with unknown make and license plates hit six pedestrians on the Tigranadzor highway in Aramus village and fled the scene, leaving them helpless, as reported by Shamshyan.com.
Two individuals died on the spot, while four others received immediate medical assistance from doctors who arrived at the Abovyan medical center and were subsequently transported by ambulance to the same facility.
The police and investigative department are working to identify the deceased and the injured. A criminal case has been initiated under Parts 3 of Article 242 and Part 1 of Article 244 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
According to the site's information, the deceased were serving in one of the military units of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, and the injured were also part of a military unit of the Ministry of Defense.
Law enforcement officers and investigators quickly located the driver, identified as 34-year-old Karen Mikayelyan from the Kotayk region. He underwent a sobriety test, which confirmed he was intoxicated. The driver has been arrested.
