Pashinyan's Proposal Led Attendees to Honor Victims with a Moment of Silence
It is very difficult to tally the number of victims, as the presence of each victim is a heavy burden, and any numerical exercise here is inappropriate. However, as of today, we have confirmed the identities of 3,621 victims and listed 321 individuals as missing based on death certificates. This was stated by the Prime Minister in the National Assembly while responding to MP Karapet Mkrtchyan’s inquiry about victim statistics.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that there are 201 bodies or remains undergoing DNA testing, with more than 100 identified bodies, which were confirmed with specific relatives. However, relatives, for various reasons, are currently refusing to accept this fact, which is understandable. “Many of our compatriots believe that their loved ones are alive, captured. There are families that do not trust the results of the DNA tests and are initiating DNA tests abroad. Despite our willingness to carry out such procedures at the state’s expense, there are cases where they say, ‘Let us have the process under our control,’” said the Prime Minister.
After answering the question, attendees honored the memory of the victims with a moment of silence at Pashinyan's suggestion.
