I am against changing the status of YSU building. The YSU building will remain in its place, Minister
Discussions about the academic city are still ongoing, but there are no clear decisions yet. Once they are made, everyone will be informed, as no issue is discussed behind the curtain. This was stated by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan in a conversation with tert.am, addressing the issue of creating an academic city and the sale of Yerevan universities.
"The YSU building will remain in its place, and I said during the press conference and I am saying now, I am against changing the status of the YSU building. We have the idea of an academic city, there is political will, but there are no details or comments; once we have them, reporters will immediately know. Selling buildings is a part of this idea that does not have value," said Vahram Dumanyan.
The minister also referred to the new draft law on “Higher Education and Science,” noting that it is currently with the president. "The ‘Higher Education and Science’ law will have a legal fate, and we do not engage in predictions; by legal path, we mean the law. At this moment, the draft is with the president’s office, let’s wait and see what happens. There has not been such interest and discussions around any draft law," he noted.
Dumanyan also did not wish to comment on today’s applause following Nikol Pashinyan’s announcement. "Of course, I also stood up and applauded, but I do not want to expand the discussion on this topic with reporters; it was my personal decision, and I do not intend to report to anyone," said Vahram Dumanyan.
