Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group Note That Not All Provisions of the Trilateral Statement Have Been Implemented: Foreign Minister
The fundamental stance of Armenia is well known and has been expressed multiple times; it is that only a political negotiated settlement, which considers the rights of all and defines the status of Artsakh based on the realization of the right to self-determination, can be regarded as a definitive resolution of the conflict, said Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan during a Q&A session with the government in the National Assembly.
“The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group note that not all provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9 have been implemented and are calling for immediate measures within the framework of humanitarian law for the repatriation of prisoners and other detained persons, unhindered access for international humanitarian organizations to Artsakh, and the protection of cultural and religious heritage. This is yet another call to Azerbaijan to fulfill its commitments undertaken by the November 9 statement, to meet its international obligations, and to abandon its destructive positions,” said the Foreign Minister.
Regarding the co-chairs' call for urgent high-level consultations, the Foreign Minister stated that Armenia has never shied away from meetings, but for them to take place, minimal conditions for trust must first be established and a clear agenda must be formulated.
“Azerbaijan hinders the establishment of such an atmosphere with its destructive and anti-Armenian statements and positions. A strong co-chairmanship can contribute to the formation of this atmosphere of trust,” Ara Ayvazyan added.
