Azerbaijan's Claims that the Nagorno-Karabakh Issue is Resolved Refuted by Co-Chairs
International expert Suren Sargsyan has made a post on his Facebook page regarding the statement of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group concerning Nagorno-Karabakh.
“I have reviewed the new statement from the Minsk Group Co-Chairs. I will address the details later, as there are incredibly many subtexts and messages.
1. One thing is now clear: a new page is opening, and moreover, in the old format, and I maintain that this format is the most acceptable for Armenia and Artsakh. Any change to this format will lead to direct Turkish intervention as a party. It is obvious that the Co-Chairs do not want this either.
2. For Armenia's 'dead but not buried' diplomacy, a new page opens up - a new front to work on.
3. We note significantly worse starting conditions than we had before.
4. We note the absence of a direct citation regarding the right of nations to self-determination.
5. We acknowledge that this negotiation will also be sabotaged by this government (as everything has been over the last 3 years), and we are thinking about our future actions.
6. And most importantly, 'the Co-Chairs emphasize that special attention is needed for a final comprehensive and sustainable settlement based on principles and elements well known to the parties,' meaning that Aliyev's claims that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue is already resolved are being refuted by the Co-Chairs,” the expert wrote.
It is noteworthy that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs have issued a statement calling for the resumption of high-level political dialogue. They also reiterated their proposal to organize direct bilateral consultations to allow the parties to jointly review and align their priorities without preconditions.
