Agreement Reached for Acquisition of One Million Vaccine Doses from Russia: Avanesyan
Armenia has registered a COVID-19 mortality rate of 1.7 percent. This was stated by the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during a Q&A session with government members in parliament. She noted, “This rate is significantly lower than the global average, which is 2 percent.”
Referring to the vaccinations that began yesterday in Armenia, the minister mentioned that a large-scale vaccination process has commenced. “Vaccinations should provide the opportunity to prevent the disease, avert severe cases, and guard against deaths,” emphasized the minister.
According to Anahit Avanesyan, a high-level agreement has already been reached for the acquisition of one million vaccine doses from Russia. “In addition, considering other agreements, we believe it is possible to ensure the benchmark I indicated (approximately 700,000 vaccinations) and to achieve the vaccination of up to 20 percent of the population by the end of the year,” stated Avanesyan.
