Letter from Parents of 67 Fallen and Missing Soldiers to MPs
Independent MP Sophia Hovsepyan read aloud a letter from the parents of 67 fallen and missing soldiers from the 7th platoon of Martuni 3 during a statement hour at the National Assembly. The letter, addressed to the MPs, states: "Until October 10, the children were stationed at combat positions in Martuni 3, and an order came from Jalal Harutyunyan indicating that an attack was expected at those posts. They were deceived with promises of being taken to a safe place, but the decision was specifically to relocate them to Hadrut, which had been surrendered on October 9, while the 73-man platoon was moved only on October 11."
The parents consider this a deliberate act of murder and demand immediate accountability from the relevant authorities. They believe that the responsible parties include former commander of the Defense Army Jalal Harutyunyan, battalion commander Gor Ishkhanyan, company commander Mkhitar Avanesyan, corps commander Karen Arustamyan, and chief of staff Kamo Vardanyan.
Hovsepyan noted that a criminal case has been initiated regarding this matter, but it is not progressing. The MP also conveyed that the parents have stated that if a fair investigation is not conducted, they will not be accountable for their future actions.
