Four More Members of Yerevan State University Board Resign, Says Abajyan
Four more members of the Board of Trustees of Yerevan State University (YSU) have submitted their resignations. This was announced on the Facebook page of Khachik Abajyan, the head of the Foundation for the Development of Youth.
He specifically noted, "In total, 15 individuals have submitted resignation letters. Yes, you guessed it right, all of them are again individuals nominated by the Government and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.":
- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Artak Apitonian,
- Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Armen Simonian,
- President of the Central Bank Martin Galstyan,
- President of the Armenian General Benevolent Union Vazgen Yakubyan.
Only one member appointed by the authorities remains on the board: Avetik Kerobyan, the head of the IT department at the Armenian Stock Exchange. If one more person submits a resignation letter, the YSU Board of Trustees will be dissolved. I am hopeful that this one will not be from the university staff," he added.
Earlier, we reported that 11 members of the YSU Board of Trustees, who were appointed by the government, had already submitted their resignation letters. It is noted that the authorities are indecisive about the rector's election and are leading the board to a targeted dissolution.
