Azerbaijan Has No Military Plans at the Border with Armenia: Ilham Aliyev
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has announced that Baku has no military plans at the border with Armenia.
“You asked what will happen after the Russian peacekeeping forces leave the region. We have borders with Armenia in Tovuz and Zangilan. Our border guard troops are deployed right next to the Armenian side. Are there any incidents? No. The Armenian army is absent; it is demoralized, our troops are five meters away. But we have no military plans,” said Aliyev at the conference titled “A New Perspective in the South Caucasus: Post-Conflict Development and Cooperation.”
According to him, questions and programs concerning the modernization of the Armenian army, alongside Russia, raise concerns. “We have conveyed our position to our Russian counterparts. Why is this being done? Any intention of retaliation will be firmly restrained,” said the Azerbaijani president.
