Armenian Authorities Withhold Information on Canadian Technology in Bayraktar Drones from Canada

Canada has requested Armenia to provide any information that would enable the proof of the use of Canadian technologies in Bayraktar drones. However, the Armenian authorities have not provided any information, thus not assisting Canadian authorities during the investigation, reports Yerkir.am.

This is stated in a statement released by the Central Office of the Armenian Cause, which informs that it was through the efforts of the Canadian Armenian Cause Committee that Canada suspended export licenses for military products and technologies granted to Turkish companies.

The Armenian Cause office has qualified the stance of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) as highly perplexing, stating that they learned about Canada's lack of assistance through an investigation published by that country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which literally states this.

The MFA of Armenia must have had evidence that Canadian technologies are present in Bayraktar drones, as several times during the war, the spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Defense published evidence that the remote-controlled camera of the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 combat UAV shot down by the Artsakh Defense Army's Air Defense Unit is the L-3 WESCAM CMX-15D model. It was produced in June 2020 by Canada's WESCAM company and was installed on Bayraktar TB2 in September 2020. The total operation time was 31 hours.

The media has sent a query to the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, demanding clarification on why they did not provide information to support such a crucial investigation for Armenia's security. We will present the response to our readers as soon as it is received.

It is noteworthy that Canada has today revoked previously granted permissions for the export of weapons and technologies to Turkey after the country's authorities received evidence that they were used in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This is stated in the announcement of Canada's Foreign Minister Marc Garneau.

Recall that on October 6, 2020, Canada halted the supply of drone technology to Turkey while investigating their use against Armenia by Azerbaijan. This mainly concerns the WESCAM CMX-15D optical system, as it is these Canadian instruments that are installed on Turkish strike UAVs. Thanks to them, Bayraktar TB2 UAVs receive very deep and clear images.
