Gagik Tsarukyan Submits Nomination to Become Prime Minister, Melkumyan

During a press conference with journalists at the National Assembly, Mikayel Melkumyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia faction, stated that over 30 years in Armenia, power has not changed hands through parliamentary elections where ballots were simply cast into boxes.

“Now we have the opportunity to bring about a change of power through elections for the first time. Given our political party's trajectory, having been in parliament for 15 years and always being the second political force, it is now our turn; we are coming,” he said.

According to Melkumyan, they are aiming to win and to take power, with Gagik Tsarukyan expected to become the head of state. In response to a journalist's observation regarding how he envisions Tsarukyan conducting negotiations, Melkumyan replied, “Very well, Gagik Tsarukyan has a high reputation.”
