Citizens Aged 55 and Older to be Vaccinated with AstraZeneca, Minister Says

The Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, presented the groups of citizens designated for vaccination with the AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines during a press conference. There have been changes to the guidelines for the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which now includes an age restriction. As a result, citizens aged 55 and older will be vaccinated with this vaccine.

In the case of Sputnik V, the minister noted that there are no such restrictions, but the supply in Armenia is limited. "Therefore, this vaccine will be administered to healthcare workers aged 18-54, chronic patients under 54, and residents and staff of social care centers under 55. The guidelines will be reviewed over time with new batches of Sputnik V," the minister added.

She also emphasized that all vaccines are currently in Phase 3 and Phase 4 clinical trials. "The use of Sputnik V is permitted in Armenia," she said.
