Basic Food Prices Continue to Rise in Armenia
In Armenia, essential food items are consistently increasing in price. Following eggs, oil, and butter, flour and bread have also seen significant price hikes. The editorial staff of the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper continues to receive phone calls from citizens regarding this chain of price increases.
We learned yesterday that the price of flour has risen considerably; for example, the price of 10 kg of flour has increased from 2400 AMD to 2800 AMD, while high-quality wheat flour now costs between 12400-13500 AMD for 50 kg, whereas just months ago it was sold for around 12,000 AMD. Meanwhile, first-grade flour is currently being sold for 11800-12000 AMD, which is higher than before.
According to the National Statistical Committee of Armenia, the price of flour rose by 1.6 percent in March compared to February this year, while the price of bread has increased by 0.2 percent. Notably, in March of this year, flour prices have risen by 14.4 percent compared to the same period last year, and bread prices have jumped by 8.6 percent,” the newspaper reports.
