Sputnik V Vaccine Receives Official Authorization for Use in Armenia on February 1

The Sputnik V vaccine has received official authorization for use in Armenia as of February 1, according to a statement from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Hripsime Khachatryan, to Aysor.am.

"When we talk about authorization for use, we mean that the country has permission to use the medication or vaccine under emergency circumstances. Given the pandemic and the state of emergency in various countries around the world, all countries utilize this mechanism, meaning that the vaccine has been granted permission for use in our country considering the emergency situation caused by the pandemic," Khachatryan noted.

She emphasized that all countries are working within this framework, taking into account the critical necessity and the need for swift decision-making.

It is worth mentioning that Vahé Minasyan, the former head of the Pharmaceuticals Division of the Health and Labor Inspectorate, had previously stated on his Facebook page that the Sputnik V vaccine is not registered in Armenia, contrary to claims made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, it was reported that the first batch of 15,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine had been delivered to Armenia.
