French MPs Leave France-Turkey Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group
French MPs are leaving the France-Turkey Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group. Bruno Cestel, a French MP, announced on his Twitter page: "Tomorrow I will leave the France-Turkey friendship group. That's enough already," he wrote.
The reason behind this decision by the MPs of the France-Turkey friendship group is the protocol incident involving European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during the visit of EU leaders to Ankara.
It is worth noting that just the day before, during the official negotiations between the leaders of the EU institutions and the Turkish President, von der Leyen was forced to settle for a couch next to Erdogan and Charles Michel, who had taken up the two chairs available in the protocol photo area.
