DNA Test Results Conducted Abroad and in Armenia Are the Same, Minister Says

In some cases, samples for DNA testing aimed at identifying the remains of soldiers and civilians who died in the latest Artsakh war are preferred to be sent abroad. This was noted by Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan during a conversation with reporters after a government meeting.

“Such cases are not very common, but it is the right of the people. They send them, and we also support the process to be organized quickly so that people can get answers. Up to this moment, the results of the tests conducted abroad and those conducted by us have been identically the same,” emphasized the minister.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Artsakh, which is involved in the search for bodies and remains, has announced that a total of 1,530 remains have been found or transferred from territories outside of Artsakh’s control since the ceasefire, with preliminary data indicating that 27 of them are civilians.
