1 Billion 638 Million Dram Allocated for Scientific Research Direction

The financial resources allocated for the implementation of scientific and scientific-technical program activities will increase by 2 billion 784 million dram. The draft decision was approved during today's government meeting.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan noted that the basis for the draft is the ongoing consultations regarding the development prospects of the science sector and the related assignments given within that framework. According to the Deputy Minister, the additional funds will be directed towards two main areas: infrastructure modernization programs and thematic scientific research.

An amount of 1 billion 31 million dram will be allocated for infrastructure modernization: "This will be directed towards the acquisition of scientifically modern and critically important equipment for scientific organizations with higher efficiency, as well as for the retraining of personnel conducting research on that equipment. In this way, we will be able to ensure a full basis for research in the field of experimental sciences, which will lead to an increase in research quality and create opportunities for conducting quality applied research. This is also important for the development of the economy," emphasized Zhanna Andreasyan.

An amount of 1 billion 638 million dram will be allocated for the scientific research direction. The Deputy Minister mentioned that key areas include competitive programs for dual research, which are of crucial importance for raising the level of the Republic's security. Grants will be provided to scientific teams engaged in applied research driven by the needs of the economy.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the issue of increasing funding for science has been discussed for a long time and remains on the government's agenda. "Simply adding money somewhere does not mean that we will achieve substantive results. It is crucial to ensure that the investment made by the system can be absorbed and that this investment will be purposeful and serve the development of science. This decision is the result of long discussions," said the Prime Minister, adding that the process will continue. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the fields of education and science have strategic significance.
