USA Provides Additional $1 Million to Armenia for COVID-19 Vaccination

The United States government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is providing an additional $1 million to support the fight against COVID-19. This information was reported by the press service of USAID Armenia on its official Facebook page.

With this funding, the total amount provided by USAID for the fight against COVID-19 in our country exceeds $11 million.

"This includes funding designated for emergency situations to meet urgent health needs, as well as mitigating the secondary and tertiary effects of the pandemic on democratic development and economic growth," the message states.

The financial resources are allocated to UNICEF to assist and effectively implement COVID-19 vaccinations in Armenia in line with the National Immunization Program for Vaccines Distribution and Vaccinations.

"Throughout the pandemic, the U.S. has collaborated with Armenia in the fight against COVID-19. With this new support, we will continue to work together to overcome COVID-19 and prepare for future public health threats," quoted U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, Lynne Tracy.

It is noteworthy that since the outbreak of the pandemic, the U.S. has been closely cooperating with Armenia to strengthen public health and enhance the response to COVID-19. This includes funding for strengthening laboratory capacities, managing severe cases, providing essential equipment, and supporting vulnerable households and children, among other initiatives.

The message emphasizes that the United States continues to "demonstrate global leadership in international health and humanitarian assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic." Since 2001, the U.S. government has provided over $140 billion in support for global health programs and the development of local health system capacities.
