Sisters Aged 15 and 17 Poisoned in Kotayk: One Dead, Other in Critical Condition
Two sisters, aged 15 and 17, were poisoned in the Jrarat community of Kotayk Province today. According to the "Hraparak" news outlet, the 15-year-old girl has died, while the other has been transferred to Muratsan University Hospital in Yerevan. Her condition is reported as critical.
Sources indicate that the girls were home alone, and their father found them in this condition in the morning. "The father is a taxi driver; around 10 a.m., he rang the doorbell but got no response for a long time. He broke the window and entered the house," said Arthur Asatryan, the head of the Jrarat community.
Asatryan also noted that the girls' mother does not live with them. Their paternal grandmother was taking care of the children, but she was at the hospital with the younger brother, who is 12 and was recently involved in a car accident.
According to the community's mayor, expertise teams are working on-site to determine the cause of the tragedy. "We found a gas water heater in the kitchen, but it was properly connected, and there was no smell of gas. They have a wood stove, but it wasn’t lit; we still do not know the cause," Asatryan said.
Shushan Danielyan, the head of the medical university's staff, also mentioned in an interview that preliminary assessments suggest the poisoning might be due to carbon monoxide.
