Court Halts Criminal Prosecution Under Article 300.1 and Terminates Proceedings

The prosecution against Robert Kocharian, Seyran Ohanyan, Yuri Khachaturov, and Armen Gevorgyan under Article 300.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia has been halted.

In the March 1 case, Judge Anna Danibekyan recently announced the court's decision regarding Article 300.1. “The petition to revoke the bail imposed on Robert Kocharian or to reduce its amount has been rejected,” the judge stated.

It is noteworthy that on April 2, Robert Kocharian's lawyers had petitioned the court to terminate the criminal prosecution against their client, arguing that the Constitutional Court has deemed Article 300.1 of the Criminal Code unconstitutional, thus claiming the absence of a criminal offense. Armen Gevorgyan's lawyer, Erik Aleksanyan, also joined this petition, requesting the cessation of criminal prosecution under the same article for his client.
