Three Friends Arrested on Suspicion of Hooliganism
The investigation is underway at the Regional Investigative Department of Vayots Dzor of the RA Investigative Committee to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the hooliganism incident that took place in the city of Yeghengadzor.
According to preliminary data, on April 3, 2021, around 16:00, a 34-year-old man, along with two friends in his “BMW X5”, went to a nearby vehicle service point in Yeghengadzor. Noticing a 37-year-old resident of the village of Getap at that location, the three friends exited the vehicle, approached him, and began to argue. During the altercation, the 34-year-old man, driven by the frenzy of asserting his superiority, grabbed the man’s arm, preventing him from fleeing. One of his friends retrieved a hunting smoothbore rifle from the trunk of the vehicle and handed it to the 34-year-old, while the other attempted to seize the 37-year-old man.
Feeling threatened for his life, the 37-year-old attempted to escape, during which the 34-year-old, under the threat of violence, fired three shots from the hunting rifle in his direction. Following this, the three friends fled in the “BMW X5”.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia under Part 4 of Article 258 of the RA Criminal Code (hooliganism). As a result of operational-intelligence measures taken, the three friends have been arrested on suspicion of committing the aforementioned crime. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
