Styopa Safaryan Sues Yuri Khachaturov's Son

The President of the Public Council of Armenia, Styopa Safaryan, has filed a lawsuit against Igor Khachaturov, the son of former Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces and former Secretary General of the CSTO, Yuri Khachaturov.

This information was revealed through the judicial information system 'Datalex'. The lawsuit was submitted to the court on April 2 and was assigned to Judge Murad Hovakimyan of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction on the same day.

The reason for filing the lawsuit stems from some remarks made by Khachaturov, which Safaryan interpreted as offensive. Specifically, Safaryan was offended by expressions such as “Turkish rat escaping” and “they won’t give you a seat on that Ankara flight”.

According to 'Factinfo', the plaintiff demands a public apology for the offensive remarks and compensation of 500,000 AMD from each of the defendants. It is noteworthy that S. Safaryan has also sued the media outlet that republished I. Khachaturov’s Facebook post.
