Large Quantities of Drugs Found in Sevan Penitentiary

On April 4, 2021, around 03:45, a staff member of the Sevan penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia noticed a suspicious package hidden inside a sock during a patrol in the area. This was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service.

An inspection of the package revealed four separate bundles resembling marijuana, with a greenish substance, along with empty glass vials, weighing a total of 14.2 grams together with the vials. Additionally, there was a crystalline substance weighing 0.4 grams that resembled methamphetamine, labeled “METHADOSE 40,” as well as one complete and one half pill marked “57 71 M,” and 18 white tablets reminiscent of diazepam. The package also contained two mobile phones, a subscriber card, and USB cables.

Materials are being prepared on the case, and a forensic chemical examination has been appointed.
