Aghazaryan on Citizen's Day: It Can Be Celebrated, But Not in a Loud Manner

In recent days, the coincidence of Citizen's Day with the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide has sparked extensive discussions regarding whether and how to commemorate the occasion.

According to the law on holidays and memorial days in the Republic of Armenia, Citizen's Day is celebrated on the last Saturday of April, and if May 1 falls on a Saturday, it is celebrated on the last Sunday of April. This effectively makes any overlap with April 24 impractical. Therefore, this year, Citizen's Day will be celebrated on April 25.

In an interview with ArmDaily.am, MP Hovik Aghazaryan from the My Step faction commented on Citizen's Day, stating, "It can be celebrated in various formats. I believe the government will find an appropriate solution that is moderate, perhaps more balanced, with minimal events. For instance, celebrating it without any barbeque is a matter for the government to decide. Personally, I believe it can be commemorated, but with very understated events."

We have also sent a request to the government regarding the anticipated events related to Citizen's Day.
