12-Month Inflation at 5.3%: Oil Prices Up 50.4%, Sugar Prices Up 40.6%
The Statistical Committee of Armenia has presented the consumer price index for January-February 2021. The 12-month inflation rate has amounted to 5.3%.
In the group of oils and fats, an inflation rate of 19.7% was recorded in February 2021 compared to February 2020, and a 2.5% increase compared to January 2021. The average price increase for sunflower oil in February 2021 compared to February 2020 was 50.4%, and 5.4% compared to January 2020.
In the dairy, cheese, and egg group, there was an inflation rate of 13.1% in February 2021 compared to February 2020 and 0.3% compared to January 2021. The price of eggs increased by 52.5% in February 2021 compared to February 2020, but decreased by 1.4% compared to January 2021.
In the sugar and sugar product group, inflation was 40.6% in February 2021 compared to February 2020 and 0.2% compared to January 2021.
In February 2021, compared to January, the Republic recorded an increase of 0.6% for fish and seafood, 1.0% for non-alcoholic beverages, and 1.1% for coffee, tea, and cocoa.
In the fruit group, an inflation rate of 8.3% was recorded in February 2021 compared to February 2020, and a decrease of 3.3% compared to January 2021.
