International Community Must Provide a Decisive Assessment of Azerbaijan's Aggressive Policies: Artsakh Foreign Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh has issued a statement in connection with the anniversary of the April 2016 war. The statement reads: “In April 2016, violating the agreement on complete ceasefire and cessation of military actions signed in 1994, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack against the Republic of Artsakh using its entire offensive arsenal, targeting both the positions of the Defense Army and civilian infrastructure, as well as border settlements.

During the April war, Azerbaijan committed numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity, including documented brutal killings, torture, and inhumane treatment of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians. The lack of condemnation of Azerbaijan's military crimes by the international community has exacerbated the aggressive ambitions of that country in the following years, culminating in the unleashing of a new large-scale war against Artsakh on September 27, 2020, aided by Turkey and involving international terrorists.

The international community must provide a decisive assessment of Azerbaijan's continuing aggressive policies, its extreme disregard for international law, and attempts to abandon negotiations aimed at resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The unity demonstrated by the Armenian people during the April war and the heroism of our heroes will forever remain in our history and the memory of generations.”
