Seiran Ohanyan on Joint Participation in Elections with R. Kocharyan

We are not sure if there will be elections. The person glued to the prime minister's chair is still examining what his rating is, after which he will make a corresponding decision. This was stated by the former Minister of Defense of Armenia, General-Major Seiran Ohanyan, in an interview with "Faktinfo."

We asked the former minister whether he would participate in the early elections scheduled for June 20 and in what format. He noted that he does not have a final decision yet: "Has a decision been made in Armenia on whether there will be elections or not? The decision to hold elections includes corresponding procedures, which must be adopted by the National Assembly; the head of the government must take the appropriate steps, resign from his position, and then the president must appoint the date for the elections. If all this has not been done, we are not sure that there will be elections. The person glued to the prime minister's chair has started campaigning, violating all laws, is exploring what his rating is, and after that he may make a corresponding decision. If nothing has been done, what can we say? If a final decision is made that there should be elections, I will express my position. At this moment, my only decision is that I will participate in the election as a citizen," said Ohanyan.

The interlocutor notes that in this situation, elections can be organized by neutral people who do not aspire to power. "Whoever does not understand what it means to organize an electoral process under this authority should realize that administrative resources will be used in their favor for collecting dividends. I believe that in this situation, elections can be organized by neutral individuals," Ohanyan added.

According to circulating information in the media, S. Ohanyan will participate in the elections jointly with R. Kocharyan on the list headed by him. Responding to these statements, S. Ohanyan noted, "This assumes that I should be on the list of some party; I am not a member of any party. It still needs to be decided what they will do, after which we will make a decision."
