Biden Orders Partial Troop Withdrawal from the Persian Gulf Region

U.S. President Joe Biden has instructed the Pentagon to begin the partial withdrawal of troops from the Persian Gulf region. According to The Wall Street Journal, citing military sources, three batteries of Patriot missile defense systems have already been relocated, including one stationed at Saudi Arabia's Prince Sultan Air Base.

The decision is part of a broader plan to reallocate the United States' overall military presence in the Middle East. The withdrawal of Patriot batteries, permanently stationed aircraft carriers, and other military hardware indicates that several thousand servicemen may leave the region over time. As of late last year, approximately 50,000 troops were stationed in the area.
