RPA Will Not Participate in Elections: Notable Situation

Deep disagreements among the leaders of the 'Homeland Salvation Movement' continue to manifest in various forms. According to information from the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper, RPA leader Serzh Sargsyan has stated to his close associates that he does not wish to support the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, in participating in the snap parliamentary elections.

Sources indicate that Serzh Sargsyan has expressed in private that he aims to support Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the 'Homeland' party, during the elections, asserting, 'We will boycott the elections; we will not legitimize the capitulator for the sake of gaining 4-5 parliamentary mandates.' Sargsyan has mentioned to his close circle that the RPA has revealed through various polls that it has a low rating, and participating in the elections in this manner would discredit itself, which is why he considers it better to support Vanetsyan than to stand alongside Robert Kocharyan.

Furthermore, during the last meeting of the leaders, Sargsyan explicitly conveyed to Kocharyan that he would not provide him with support. Well-informed sources have reported that a prominent faction within the RPA has also declared that if Serzh Sargsyan does not enter the elections himself, they will join the list led by Robert Kocharyan. It can be said that there is currently a divide within the RPA, with Sargsyan's allies expressing dissatisfaction with his stance, particularly regarding his lack of transparency in presenting his actions and plans to the team.

Just as he secretly resigned, he is now keeping his true objectives hidden from his own party. This information is reported by the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper.
