The midfielder of the Armenian national football team, Tigran Barshekian, believes the team deserved a second consecutive victory in the World Cup qualifying round.
“From the very first minute, we believed we had to win. I entered the penalty area in my style and, fortunately, luck was on my side. Both my goal and Bayramyan’s were very good. We deserved this victory,” said Barshekian.
The Armenian national team achieved a 2:0 victory against Iceland in Yerevan as part of the World Cup 2022 qualifying rounds.
At the start of the second half, the Armenian side seized their opportunity, with Tigran Barshekian scoring a precise shot in the 53rd minute. Under the guidance of head coach Karpov, the team clearly imposed their will, and the changes made by the Spanish specialist yielded results as Khoren Bayramyan, who was substituted in, doubled the lead.
Ultimately, the Armenian team won by a score of 2:0.
The Armenian national team is one of the leaders in Group J of the World Cup qualifying round. After the second round, both the Armenian and German national teams have secured 6 points from two victories. North Macedonia and Romania share 3 points each in 3rd and 4th places. Iceland and Liechtenstein have yet to earn any points.
