Armenia's National Team Starts World Cup 2022 Qualifiers with Victory Over Liechtenstein
In the first round of the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, Armenia's national team visited the team of Liechtenstein and emerged victorious with a minimal score. The match held in Vaduz saw the team, led by Spanish coach Joaquín Caparrós, enjoy significant territorial and game advantage.
Armenia controlled the ball 70% of the time, launching 26 shots towards the goal, six of which were on target. The opposing team did not register a single shot on David Yurchenko's defended goal. However, the Armenian players managed to convert their dominance into a goal only in the 84th minute. After Tigran Barseghyan's executed free-kick, the ball was deflected into the net by midfielder Noah Fromelt.
In other matches of Group J, Germany defeated Iceland with a score of 3:0, while Romania secured a 3:2 win over North Macedonia.
Armenia's national team will host Iceland next on March 28 in Yerevan.
