Pashinyan Urges Samvel Babayan to Return to Artsakh and Become an Alternative to the Current Government
Although Nikol Pashinyan is trying to convince Samvel Babayan to return to Artsakh and become an alternative to Araik Harutyunyan's government, there is a belief in Artsakh that Babayan no longer has that chance. Even members of his own party have expressed disappointment with him, as discussions revolve around his role during the 44-day war and the defeat.
The particularly contentious point is the planned but failed adventurous operation involving Pashinyan and his wife, which has led to Kamanduyushch's loss of his former reputation in his homeland. Babayan's parliamentary faction, the United Homeland, has split into two parts, with some MPs operating under Araik Harutyunyan's leadership, while others are establishing bridges and cooperation with the Secretary of the Security Council and Harutyunyan's rival, Vitaly Balasanyan.
