Supporters of Aliyev Attempted to Mutilate Azerbaijani Opposition Blogger in France
According to "Кавказский узел," Azerbaijani blogger Muhammad Mirzali, who resides in France, along with bloggers Ordohan Temirkhani and Tural Sadagli, conducted a protest campaign on social networks in 2018 titled "Tell About the Dictator," aimed at exposing the repressive regime of Ilham Aliyev.
On March 14, Mirzali was attacked by unidentified individuals in France. The assailants stabbed him several times and fled the scene. According to the blogger, the attackers ordered him in Azerbaijani to open his mouth, threatening to cut out his tongue.
Reports indicate that Mirzali has been hospitalized in critical condition. Previously, in October 2020, the blogger had reported an assassination attempt and had received threatening SMS messages from Azerbaijani officials.
It is worth noting that in 2018, Mirzali complained about the persecution of his relatives in Azerbaijan. Specifically, in February 2018, his brother-in-law, Elman Aghayev, was administratively arrested for 30 days. Additionally, Mirzali reported that his father was also detained. Relatives of the blogger were reportedly pressured to persuade him to cease his opposition activities.
