Mane Gevorgyan Explains Reasons for Not Inviting Human Rights Defender to Government Meetings

The spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Armenia, Mane Gevorgyan, has disclosed the reasons for no longer inviting the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan to government meetings. In a conversation with Armenpress, Gevorgyan noted that the decision stemmed from Tatoyan's prolonged absence from executive meetings.

“Arman Tatoyan was invited to the government meetings, and at some point, he began to fail to attend, sending another representative from the Human Rights Defender’s office in his place. This practice continued for a long time. The office was informed that it is the Human Rights Defender who is invited to government meetings, not another individual, which resulted in Tatoyan's designated seat remaining consistently vacant,” Gevorgyan said.

“Subsequently, taking into account the changing composition of participants in the government meetings, as well as Arman Tatoyan's voluntary decision not to participate, he will no longer be invited to the meetings,” she added.

The Prime Minister's spokesperson also emphasized that Arman Tatoyan possesses all the opportunities and platforms to express his concerns and comments to the executive body, and the government finds the motivation behind his hasty and manipulative statements unclear.
