Russia Does Not Accept Turkey's Position on Crimea, Peskov

The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, has stated that Turkey's stance on Crimea does not affect relations between Moscow and Ankara, although Russia does not accept this position. This information was reported by RIA Novosti.

Journalists asked Peskov whether the Crimea issue is touched upon in the context of Russian-Turkish relations.

“Here, one can probably speak about a subject that falls under the category of disagreements. We do not accept Turkey's position on Crimea. At the same time, we patiently continue to explain our position. And we are confident that our Turkish partners will sooner or later understand the accuracy and validity of the Russian Federation's stance,” Peskov said.

Journalists asked whether it could be said that the Crimea issue does not affect the relations between the two countries.

“It can be said,” Peskov responded.

Moreover, he added that for the Russian authorities, the Crimea issue does not exist as such.

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin had stated that he sometimes holds opposing views on certain issues with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, but the Turkish leader is a man who keeps his word.
