‘If it weren’t for the President’s support, Pashinyan wouldn’t have succeeded in dismissing Onik Gasparyan’ - Vazgen Manukyan
The Prime Ministerial candidate of the Homeland Salvation Movement, Vazgen Manukyan, believes that the army should have taken power during the middle of the war. Manukyan expressed this opinion during an opposition rally that started on Baghramyan Avenue.
“Why didn’t the army do that? No, they are not traitors; they are simply very law-abiding military personnel. We should have stood up in the middle of the war, but the people didn’t know we were losing,” said Manukyan.
According to him, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan would not have succeeded in dismissing Chief of the General Staff Onik Gasparyan if it weren’t for the support of the President. Manukyan points out that the army continues to behave lawfully thereafter, but Manukyan himself would not behave that way.
He stated that when the National Assembly was blockaded yesterday, if he were in Onik Gasparyan’s position, he would have arrested the Prime Minister.
Vazgen Manukyan believes that in the near future, Pashinyan will dismiss all military personnel who signed his resignation. He called on military personnel not to obey illegal orders.
