Births in Armenia Decrease, Marriages Increase: 'Jamanak'

According to the 'Jamanak' newspaper, the number of births in Armenia has decreased this January. The newspaper learned from official sources that the number of births in our republic was 3,020 in January 2019, and 2,846 in the same period in 2020. However, this year it has increased to 2,795.

Additionally, the number of stillbirths has increased, rising from 21 last year to 36 this year.

In other news, the rate of divorces in Armenia has started to decline. The Statistical Committee of Armenia reported to 'Jamanak' that there were 280 divorces in January of this year, which is a decrease of 28 compared to the previous year.

On the other hand, marriages have increased, with 1,070 in January 2019, 1,000 in January 2020, and rising to 1,123 in the same period this year. Many experts suggest that today's youth prefer the option of civil marriage.
