The 'Boomerang Law': Human Rights Defender Condemns Placing Coffins and Wreaths Near MPs' Homes

The Armenian Human Rights Defender, Arman Tatoyan, has condemned the recent incidents of placing wreaths or coffins outside the homes of government MPs. He stated on his Facebook page:

“In recent days, wreaths and coffins have been placed near the homes or buildings of Armenian National Assembly members, bearing the images of those MPs. This has sparked public discussions, referencing the phenomenon from 2018 called the 'Boomerang Law.' The fact that these sinister acts occurred in 2018 does not justify repeating them now. Otherwise, we may find ourselves trapped in a dangerous cycle where the same negative phenomena are repeated, citing the 'Boomerang Law' or driven by a sense of 'revenge.'

The Human Rights Defender deemed such actions unacceptable by the same principles in 2018. He specified that at that time, such acts violated the dignity of individuals and their families, disrupting their private and family lives. They contain elements that incite violence and can undermine the mental well-being of individuals and their families. This only increases the tension in an already complicated and crisis-stricken situation. The development of events in our country must be ensured through respect for human dignity and his rights.”
