Pashinyan Dismisses Deputy Governors of Armavir and Gegharkunik
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has today made decisions regarding the dismissal of the deputy governors of Armavir and Gegharkunik regions.
The dismissals concern Armavir's Deputy Governor, Major General (Res.) Aleksan Aleksanyan, and Gegharkunik's Deputy Governor, Major General (Res.) Henrikh Muradyan, both of whom had announced their resignations days earlier, joining the demand for the Prime Minister's resignation and supporting the statement made by the Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan.
Notably, today a similarly worded statement was also issued by Vayots Dzor's Deputy Governor, Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Arayik Muradyan, who is known by the nickname “Makhnov” since the First Artsakh War.
Significantly, all of the aforementioned deputy governors had been appointed to their positions by the Prime Minister's decision on October 29, 2020, following the decision to have deputy governors with a military background during the Artsakh war.
