2018 Events Are Incomprehensible to Me - R. Kocharyan
The third President of Armenia, Serge Sargsyan, has not had separate negotiations regarding cooperation with Robert Kocharyan. This was stated by the second President of Armenia during a meeting with Russian media, in response to a question from Sputnik Armenia.
Kocharyan mentioned that the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) is participating in protest actions and is part of the opposition movement, which he also supports. However, discussions about cooperation in a different format have not taken place.
“For now, we have not had such discussions. I refrain from such discussions with all parties so that it is not perceived as a parallel process,” Kocharyan noted.
Regarding the accusations directed at third President Serge Sargsyan, asserting that he is one of those responsible for the rise of Nikol Pashinyan to power, Kocharyan abstained from making assessments.
“We always try to look for culprits. For me, the events of 2018 are incomprehensible. I didn’t believe that it was possible to manipulate our people in such a way. That the use of technologies could have such an effective impact on Armenian society,” said Kocharyan.
On the other hand, he stated that he criticized the RPA at the time it was the ruling party. “There were problems that led to these processes. But it was also evident that technological applications, the presence of geopolitical components, and the active involvement of external, non-Armenian forces were significant factors,” Kocharyan emphasized.
