Video: "Turkish Product Bans Should Be Extended," Says Vahan Kerobyan
Economic Minister Vahan Kerobyan stated that the bans on Turkish products should be extended if political and other priorities do not interfere. Responding to a question during a question-and-answer session with the Government in the National Assembly regarding the decision to import Turkish products after the 6-month ban, he said, "As long as we are in this situation, it makes sense to extend it and provide sufficient time for our businesses to reorganize, invest, and reach the scale that will allow them to be competitive. In the meantime, we are ready to protect our local producers so that they can capture and strengthen their position in the market."
According to Vahan Kerobyan, they are generally inclined to extend the ban again, but the best solution depends on the economy, the current time, and the decisions that have already been made. "By the way, we intend to protect our local producers not only through the ban on Turkish products but also through various other tools, such as market regulation, strict application of standards for imported goods, and encouraging local producers through various other means," he added.
