VIDEO: 'You Either Apologize or Resign' - Edmon Marukyan to Ara Arutyunyan
During the commencement of the National Assembly session today, Edmon Marukyan addressed the NA President Ara Arutyunyan regarding the canceled council meeting, stating that as the NA President, he is obliged to remain impartial in such matters. He remarked, 'If there was a decision to boycott the council meeting and no extraordinary session would be convened based on the opposition's agenda, you at least should have attended, opened the session, and informed us as the NA President. You are failing to carry out your duties.'
Marukyan further added, 'You must either apologize for disregarding 1/5 of the NA or you must resign. You are not fulfilling your mission; you have violated the role of the arbitrator.'
In response, Arutyunyan advised Marukyan to reflect on his own responsibilities and suggested refraining from presenting his duties: 'I propose that you make a sincere effort to resolve the situation. Honestly, I do not believe that your recently expressed suggestion was aimed at resolution; I think it was an attempt to complicate the entire puzzle.'
Marukyan countered, 'Mr. Arutyunyan, I am asking why you did not attend the meeting? Please answer honestly, why did your absence escalate the situation?'
The NA President reiterated that he performs his duties appropriately and that not attending the council meeting is one of his rights: 'I did not participate in the session that day.'
