Armenian and Russian Defense Ministers Hold Phone Conversation
The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergey Shoigu, had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, as reported by RIA Novosti. The two officials discussed the situation in the region and Nagorno-Karabakh.
“During the phone call, issues related to bilateral cooperation, the current situation in the region, and those areas of Nagorno-Karabakh where Russian peacekeepers are deployed were discussed, as well as other matters of mutual interest,” stated the report released by the Russian agency.
It should be noted that on November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, signing a statement according to which Azerbaijan gained control over seven regions of Artsakh, as well as Shushi and Hadrut, except for one village from the Askeran and Martuni regions, and the Talish and Mataghis villages of the Martakert region.
