Armen Sarkissian and Arman Tatoyan to Work Together on Prisoners' Return

The President of the Republic, Armen Sarkissian, held a meeting with the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan. The Human Rights Defender informed the president about the work done by the Defender's Office in recent months. He specifically presented the issues noted during the periodic visits by the Defender's Office staff to the border regions of the Republic, emphasizing that the authorities of Azerbaijan are continuously and systematically carrying out planned actions that violate the internationally recognized rights of residents of Armenia's border settlements.

The Human Rights Defender also provided their observations regarding processes related to the state borders of the Republic of Armenia, stating that the Defender has already appealed to relevant international bodies regarding processes accompanied by gross human rights violations.

President Sarkissian and the Human Rights Defender particularly addressed the efforts being made for the return of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held by the Azerbaijani side. Arman Tatoyan provided detailed information to the president about the work done by the Defender's Office, noting that they collaborate with all involved institutions as well as international organizations.

An agreement was reached for the offices of the President and the Human Rights Defender to work together on both the return of prisoners and on raising the concerns and recorded issues of the Armenian side in international forums.

In this context, the president emphasized the importance of the work carried out by the Human Rights Defender's Office, including professional observations and evidence-gathering activities.
